The Haptic Force Feedback Interface System |
||
Asylum Research announces the availability of the Haptic Interface System (HIS) for the MFP-3D AFM. This development was done in cooperation with Novint Technologies of New Mexico and the Robert Cohn Group at University of Louisville. The HIS allows the MFP-3D user to interact in real time with the sample surface. The force feedback haptic magnifies the forces between the cantilever and sample by almost a factor of one billion, allowing the user to 'feel' the surface as the AFM cantilever moves over it. The motion of the user's hand is demagnified by a similar factor and directly controls the cantilever motion. This tactile control and feedback system enables many real time manipulation and measurement applications of the MFP-3D system such as carbon nanotubes, single molecules, quantum dots and more. The Haptic Interface System is available with the PHANTOM (see picture to the right) as the standard configuration. Other haptic devices are available upon request. |
