Pseudomonas aeruginosa Bacteria

Left: The fluorescent image shows bacteria that are expressing GFP. The optical image
was used to locate and position the cantilever over individual bacteria.

Right: Force measurements were then made on the bacteria.
In the force curves, the red and blue curves correspond to the deflection of the cantilever
as it approaches and withdraws from the surface, respectively.

Force curves taken on the bacteria show extremely large adhesion
while control curves taken on the glass substrate do not.
