Biophysics 101: Atomic Force Microscopy
Monday, February 4
1:30-3:00pm
Room 204C

Atomic force microscopy has emerged as a biophysical technique capable of measurements on unstained and unfixed biological molecules and assemblies under fluid. Besides imaging at multiple spatial scales, it can also serve as a mechanical probe of these types of systems. This year’s "Biophysics 101" session will include two lectures on this topic, describing AFM and its applications. The session is part of a continuing series of symposia initiated by the Education Committee to educate the Society membership about fundamentals of various biophysical techniques with which they may not be familiar.
